Creative & Decorative Organizing Solutions

Hiding clutter (ok, stuff!) is better than ever now. There are so many pretty accent-type furnishings that store stuff, each providing a decorative touch to any room.

As a professional organizer, I tend to look at storage type products whenever I’m in a store that carries these type of items. Now, more than ever before, the store shelves are lined with decorative storage solutions to organize the home or office. Even shelf baskets are becoming more decorative and designed for grouping like-items together on a shelf.

The most recent of all storage solutions I’ve seen are the decorative canvas shelf bins that come in a variety of colors, sizes and shapes.

I recently organized my girly-tools and household repair products in these colored canvas bins on the shelves in my garage, and what a difference it makes in appearance! I used to store these items within plastic containers on the shelves, but decided to “go pretty” in the garage. Why not!

Yet, that’s not the only place I’ve used them. I find them useful on shelves in my home office, too.

But that’s not all!

I’ve learned how to hide stuff in many different ways. For instance, I love to have books around the house. So, why not incorporate a fake book stack with my real books? I have fake books that open up and some that open out as drawers.

I keep reading glasses in them, taper candles, remote controls for the media center, and other items I like to keep handy.

Then there’s really creative ways to store junk into, like decorative old small luggage cases. I have these in my office to keep my over-supply of office supplies.

On the bookshelf in my dining room, I keep cloth napkins handy in these type of cases, too.

In my bathroom, I’ve use decorative wicker baskets in various shapes and sizes to fit my needs for certain items.

I have many uses for wicker baskets. For instance, instead of cluttering the top of my refrigerator with stuff, I group them in wicker baskets (okay, I tend to clutter the front of refrigerator with cutesy-stuff!).

In my clothes closet, I use really large wicker baskets to store seasonal items. In this one, I store some spare plastic hangers.

As a girl, I can get a bit carried away I think. Like, I use these decorative glass vase containers to keep beauty products in, which is next to my vanity. And yes, there’s another fake book to store stuff in on my vanity table!

Now I invite you to share your own creative storage solutions! Leave a comment and, if possible, link to your images in Flickr or another photo sharing site!
